“El santo quiere fiesta”. Devoción, halagos y agasajo a san La Muerte, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

En el siguiente artículo se presenta el análisis de las fiestas en honor de san La Muerte, culto religioso  popular (figura esquelética) con epicentro en la provincia de Corrientes, pero que se encuentra representado en Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, Santa Fe, provincia de Buenos Aires y Capital Federal (Fig. 1). Se analiza el  carácter devocional del mismo, las características que imponen las dueñas del santo a cada templo y cómo  influye esta impronta en el carácter propio de las fiestas que se celebran el 15 y el 20 de agosto de cada año  con baile, asado y procesión. Se analizan varias posturas referentes al concepto de lo festivo y se contrastan  con las propias fiestas del santo. Este patrimonio inmaterial, se define como culto católico popular, debido a  su fondo estructural, liturgia y praxis devocional profundamente católica. Se atiende a las definiciones de  Manuel Marzal sobre este tópico. An analysis of festivals in honor of San La Muerte (Saint Death), a popular religious cult (skeletal figure) with  epicenter in the province of Corrientes, but that is represented in Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, Santa Fe,  province of Buenos Aires and the Federal Capital City (Fig. 1) is presented in this work . Its devotional  character is analyzed as well as the characteristics imposed by the owners of the saint to each temple and  how this mark influences on the character of the festivals which take place between August 15 and August 20 each year, with dancing, barbecue and procession. Several positions regarding the concept of the festive and  they are contrastes with the actual celebrations of the saint. This intangible heritage is defined asa Catholic  popular cult because of its structural base, and deep Catholic devotional liturgy. It meets Manuel Marzal’s  definitions on this topic.
