The peasant world has been structurally violated by neoliberal practices and the armed conflict in Colombia. Faced with this, collective agencies are raised that are necessary to fight for better living conditions. Objective: to understand the configuration of collective actions in two townships of Ovejas, Sucre (Montes de María). Methodology / method: qualitative research with an ethnographic / descriptive approach. We worked with four peasant associations, three from the San Rafael district and one from the La Peña district. Main findings: the economic logic of the sheep farm, which is involved in the neoliberal plot, is not viable for the small and medium producer who is not only violated by the economic structure but also by the negative conflict in Colombia. One way to cushion the producer's problems is found in collective action focused on the mobilization of resources. Women, for their part, play a relevant role in the structure of the rural community. The female agencies deployed are not limited to work at home, but expand to the community and public sphere. Conclusions: 1) There are collective actions focused on the mobilization of resources as a rural economic survival mechanism. 2) The action of rural women is important for the constitution of the family and the community structure. 3) Although the associative method is meritorious and necessary, it is not enough to change the structure that is detrimental to the peasant communities. The academy, together with the State and institutions that affect the field, must enter into dialogue to propose alternatives through public policies according to the contextual reality of the small and medium producers of the Montes de María and the country.
