Abstract
This article is deduced from a Doctoral research project in process whose object is to explore the transformations the image body experiments when he makes an incursion in the social network Facebook. Because of the convergence of social, communicative, technological aspects which affect the public who not too  ong ago were restricted from the iconographic scenario, now they are seen as potential image inventors, communicators or critics, this is to say they are manifesting the power given by the “network society” (Castells, 2009), or as Rodriguez and Said (2010) said, identities based on the “cultural pastiche” in which the truthfulness of the identities does not matter but the image design of themselves are being built. This refection associates an epistemic perspective of design with the phenomena of communication in the social network; design is seen as a discipline that tries to understand the signs coming from the cultural contexts (Chaves, 2001) in order to change them into referents of the messages with which it serves the society in which they are involved (Buchanan, 2007). At the same time, communication is understood in the social network as the act coming from the use of images and words (Sibila, 2008; Burset & Sánchez, 2009), its efficiency would force the redesign of the need of intermediaries for message transformation
