| spa |
dc.description.abstract | eng:Pollination is the transfer of pollen from the male sexual organ (anther) to the receptive portion of the female sexual organ (stigma) in flowering plants. In the polination process there are two types of mechanisms involved: i) self-pollination and ii) cross-pollination. Self-pollination involves the same flower in a single plant, while in cross-pollination, pollen grains are transferred to another plant of the same species and can be carried out by both biotic (animals) and abiotic (water or wind) vectors. Most crops depend more on pollination carried out by animals. One of the animals involved in the process of successful pollination and in turn enjoying the primary reward is the Apis mellifera bee. This specie of bee has a wide geographical distribution adapted to different climatic conditions in the world and is the most important group of pollinating agents. Unfortunately, in recent years, the decline of Apis mellifera bee populations worldwide has been documented. Among the multiple factors that have accelerated this decline are: anthropogenic factors, mainly caused by the loss of their habitat; the use of pesticides such as neonicotinoids; diseases acquired by bacteria, viruses and parasites; as well as competition with other pollinating agents. These factors generate an increasingly negative impact on agricultural, economic and social productivity. In Colombia, Apis mellifera plays an important role in the pollination of a wide range of fruits, vegetables and herbaceous crops. This is the case of the municipality of San Sebastián de Mariquita whose main economic activity is agriculture. The objective of the present work was to generate teaching-learning strategies about the Apis mellifera species, its essential role within the environment and the benefits it promotes to human beings. People from the community of San Sebastián de Mariquita (Tolima), participated in the study through campaigns, games, brochures, videos and a survey of knowledge in an online platform. To measure the perception and knowledge about the Apis mellifera bee, a multivariate analysis and tests of independence were carried out. The results showed that there is low knowledge about the bee in the polulation under 16 years old and over 50 years old. Additionally, a learning strategy about the Apis mellifera species was generated. | eng |
