dc.description.abstracteng:A new genus of Theraphosidae is described for Colombia, based on two new species: the type species gen. n sp. n. 1 from Santa María, Boyacá, and gen. n sp. n. 2 from Belén de los Andaquíes, Caquetá. This new taxonomic proposal is supported by the exhaustive analysis of its morphological characteristics and a cladistic analysis based on a previous morphological matrix. The males of this new striped tarantula genus can be distinguished from other theraphosids by the combination of the palpal bulp shape, the position and shape of the prolateral keels, the absence of the tibial apophysis and processes in the tibia of the palp, the shape of metatarsus I completely straight. The females by the singular heart-shaped spermatheca along the presence of type IV urticating setae on a dorsal heartshaped patch in the opisthosoma. All of the species are described, diagnosed, and illustrated and their remarkable characteristics, morphological affinities, and phylogenetic relationships are analyzed.eng
