| spa |
dc.description.abstract | eng:Patients with major mental disorders (Schizophrenia, major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder) may present cognitive impairment(1-5) . Cognitive functioning is a marker of neuronal integrity, affects the prognosis and quality of life of patients, so it becomes a therapeutic target to preserve functionality(6,7). The evaluation of cognitive functions is generally performed through neuropsychological explorations that require a specialist and time for their application(8). Although there are short scales for screening cognitive impairment, they have not been validated in patients with major psychiatric disorders(9). Because of this, the BIOPSIQUE scale was designed to assess cognitive functioning in patients with major mental disorders quickly and easily in the clinical setting(10). Objective: To face validaty of the BIOPSIQUE scale and adapt the items for the target population of people with depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Results: Fifteen subjects participated. 8 were male, mean age 34.6 (± 8.9) years, diagnosed with schizophrenia(3) , bipolar disorder(4), depression (4) and healthy persons (4). Participants considered the scale items to have high clarity, high recognition of what they were seeking to assess, and low level of difficulty. Through the cognitive interviews, three problems were identified in the assessment specifically in the domains of encoding memory, recognition memory and working memory; based on which the BIOPSIQUE scale was modified. Conclusion: The findings of the study allowed making adjustments to the items analyzed by the community, before being evaluated in the final population, and that through the cognitive interviews and face validity confers greater reliability to the results, which could have limited the final result of the test. | eng |
