Palabras clave: Emociones, sentido, educación emocional, escuela, docente. eng:In recent years it has become evident that emotions are present in all stages and experiences of
human beings; therefore, they have great influence on the other dimensions of individuals. Thus,
the importance of emotional education in the educational process is recognized and,
furthermore, that the infant stage is the most propitious time to start with its development. It is
suggested that such education should have more scientific support so that it can be oriented in a
more coherent and effective way. In this way, this paper investigates the meanings given to
emotional education at school by elementary school teachers of the Villa Del Pilar de Manizales
Integrated School in Manizales. This research had a qualitative approach with a hermeneutic
phenomenological method. For the data collection technique, anecdote, conversational interview
and close observation were used. It was found that the configuration of meaning by teachers
occurs from three points, the first one is the meaning that they give to the role of the family, the
school and the teacher in the emotional dimension; the second one is from the practices that they
recognize as a contribution to emotional education, such as dialogue, recognition of the child,
classroom environment, affectivity and motivation and third the benefits that can be evidenced
from the emotional aspect regarding the learning and coexistence of children.
