spa:El presente trabajo aborda un problema antiguo, de tanta trascendencia a través del tiempo,
de tanta configuración y reconfiguración que no solo hace que sea un problema vigente en el
presente, sino que al parecer es ineludible o por lo menos es el planteamiento que se analiza
en Latinoamérica; La política, las elecciones o mejor dicho la demagogia presentada en
aquella disputa y su materialización: El Fraude Electoral.
El trabajo describe y analiza las elecciones parroquiales de Santo Domingo, Antioquia en
1852. En estas se procuraba la elección de cuatro electores que correspondían por población
al distrito parroquial, para lo cual los sufragantes debieron emitir un máximo de 4 votos para
la elección de los electores que representarían a la parroquia. Estas elecciones se
desarrollaron del Domingo 20 de Junio al Domingo 27 de Junio y supuestamente en un
horario de 8 a 12 y de 2 a 6 de la tarde.
Este estudio de caso permitirá evidenciar la importancia que tenían las elecciones como
legitimador de los poderes políticos en el mundo rural antioqueño a mediados del siglo XIX.
También servirá para mostrar el despliegue de prácticas políticas por parte de los partidos en
busca del triunfo electoral al tiempo que el estudio de las relaciones sociales y de los ritmos
electorales servirán de fondo para explicar la presencia de ideales democráticos y liberales
en esta zona del país. eng:The present work addresses an ancient problem, of such transcendence through time,
of so much configuration and reconfiguration that not only makes it a current problem in the
present, but it seems that it is inescapable or at least it is the approach that is analyzed
in Latin America; Politics, elections or rather the demagoguery presented in
that dispute and its materialization: Electoral Fraud.
The work describes and analyzes the parish elections of Santo Domingo, Antioquia in
1852. In these, the election of four electors corresponding by population was sought.
to the parish district, for which the voters had to cast a maximum of 4 votes to
the election of the electors who would represent the parish. These elections are
developed from Sunday June 20 to Sunday June 27 and supposedly in a
hours from 8 to 12 and from 2 to 6 in the afternoon.
This case study will show the importance of the elections as
legitimator of political powers in rural Antioquia in the mid-nineteenth century.
It will also serve to show the deployment of political practices by the parties in
search for electoral triumph while studying social relations and rhythms
Electoral elections will serve as a background to explain the presence of democratic and liberal ideals
in this area of the country.
