El papel de la geografía en el estudio de la relación sociedad-naturaleza

Abstract

En este artículo se indaga la correspondencia existente entre la geografía y el desarrollo conceptual sobre la relación Sociedad-Naturaleza, objeto de estudio que en la actualidad presenta un interés de análisis y explicación interdisciplinaria. Sin embargo, se hace énfasis en la pertinencia que tiene la geografía en el desarrollo de esta temática “ambiental” en razón de la amplitud de miradas y enfoques propuestos a lo largo de su evolución histórica como disciplina científica, enmarcada en la dialéctica medio, entorno físico natural– espacio humanizado; Geografía Física-Geografía Humana, y en último lugar Geografía de Síntesis (Geografía Ambiental: estudio relación Sociedad–Naturaleza, desde conceptos como espacio geográfico, paisaje, territorio, lugar, etc). De igual manera se plantea cómo la geografía reviste un papel trascendental en la formación ambiental desde la acción educativa formal e informal, constituyéndose igualmente en promotor de cambios cognoscitivos y actitudinales en torno a nuestra relación con el espacio habitado y en formas alternativas de construcción de una nueva sociedad.ABSTRACTThis article researches the existing correspondence between geography and the conceptual development on the Society-Nature relation, an object of study that currently presents an interest of analysis and interdisciplinary explanation. Nevertheless, the relevance that geography has on the thematic development of this “environmental” topic is emphasized, regarding the amplitude of views and proposed approaches of its historical evolution as a scientific discipline, within a dialectic medium, physical natural surroundings—humanized space; Physical Geography—Human Geography, and lastly, Geography of Synthesis (Environmental Geography: study of the Society-Nature relation, starting off from concepts such as geographic space, landscape, territory, place, etc). Equally, this article considers how geography has a transcendental role in the environmental formation from the formal and informal educative action, constituting itself as a promoter of cognoscitive and attitudinal changes regarding our relation with the inhabited space and alternative forms of construction of a new society.
