dc.description.abstract | IMPORTANCIA: Visibilizar complicaciones en apnea obstructiva del sueño no descritas frecuentemente en paciente ancianos, sugiriendo un tamizaje oportuno del estadio de fragilidad y caídas recurrentes. DISEÑO, ESCENARIO Y PARTICIPANTES: En total 131 pacientes mayores de 60 años con diagnóstico de AOS que asistían a consulta ambulatoria a Neurología Integral de Caldas, Manizales , Colombia fueron evaluados mediante cuestionarios, el estadio de fragilidad mediante el cuestionario FRAIL y el auto reporte de caídas . PRINCIPALES DESENLACES Y MEDIDAS: La edad media fue de 68 años (60 – 87), el 58.8 % eran mujeres; el 62.6 % tenían un IAH severo, la mediana de IAH fue de 34 (RI: 22 – 47), el estadio de fragilidad se encontró que el 46.6 % se clasifico como prefrágil, 31.3 % frágil y el 22.1 % como robusto, para la presencia de fragilidad ser mujer, tener bajo nivel educativo, multimorbilidad, polifarmacia, osteoartritis, ACV, artritis reumatoide, mala percepción de salud se presentó con una diferencia significativa, en cuanto a caídas se presentó caídas recurrentes en un 20.6%, sin historia de caídas 67,9% y de una caída 11,5%, con significancia estadística para caídas recurrente el ser mujer, con deterioro cognitivo y mala percepción de salud, de manera reciproca para el aumento de frecuencia la presencia de fragilidad y caídas recurrentes. CONCLUSIÓN Y RELEVANCIA: Los pacientes ancianos con diagnóstico de AOS de este estudio presentaron alta frecuencia de fragilidad y caídas recurrentes, no se encontraron diferencias significativas según los parámetros de sueño, aunque todos presentaron un comportamiento severo. | spa |
dc.description.abstract | IMPORTANCE: To make visible complications in obstructive sleep apnea not frequently described in elderly patients, suggesting early screening for the stage of frailty and recurrent falls. DESIGN, SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: In total, 131 patients over 60 years of age with a diagnosis of OSA attended outpatient consultation at Integral Neurology of Caldas, Manizales, Colombia were evaluated through questionnaires, the stage of frailty through the FRAIL questionnaire and the self-report of falls. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: The average age was 68 years (60 – 87), 58.8% were women; 62.6% had a severe AHI, the median AHI was 34 (RI: 22 – 47), the frailty stage was found to be 46.6% classified as pre-frail, 31.3% frail and 22.1% as robust, for the presence of fragility, being a woman, low educational level, multimorbidity, polypharmacy, osteoarthritis, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, poor health self-rated with a significant difference, in terms of falls, recurrent falls occurred in 20.6%, with no history of falls. 67.9% and a fall 11.5%, with statistical significance for recurrent falls being a woman, with cognitive impairment and poor health self-rated, reciprocally for the increase in frequency the presence of frailty and recurrent falls. CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE: Elderly patients with a diagnosis of OSA in this study presented a high frequency of frailty and recurrent falls. No significant differences were found according to sleep parameters, although them presented severe OSA. | eng |
